INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  Sep 2000
  • location   Clark Creek (Shasta County, California, US)
  • family Pinaceae
  • notes   Photo of Picea engelmannii taken at Clark Creek in Shasta Co., CA, just below confluence with Deadman's Gulch. The stand of Spruce is narrow along the western edge of the creek for approx. two miles. The stand seems to be in a healthy state, with many tiny seedlings among the larger trees. This is a beautiful area with White Fir, Red Fir, Quaking Aspen, Lodgepole Pine, Sugar Pine, and many other species of plants. This is a disjunct stand of Engelmann Spruce, probably left by glacial activity.
