notes Body size 19 mm; It may be a female; For the first time we (my wife and I) found this species in Guaramirim, Santa Catarina State, southern Brasil, which is about 1000 km far from the type locality, Tingua, Rio de Janeiro State (Izecksohn, E. 1968. Nova Especie de 'Dendrophryniscus' do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Amphibia, Salientia). Revista Brasileira de Biologia 28(4): 357-362. This species was also found in Registro, Sao Paulo State [Izecksohn, E. and C.A.G. Cruz. 1972. Notes on the Tadpoles of Dendrophryniscus leucomystax IZECKSON, 1968 and D. brevipollicatus (Amphibia, Anura, Bufonidae).
