Macronectes halli (Northern Giant Petrel) |
Stercorarius antarcticus (Brown Skua) | This is a Brown (Southern) Skua Stercorarius antarcticus. A very slim chance that it is a South Polar Skua but given it was photographed on an island where Brown Skua breed and displays typical adult plumage for that species Brown Skua is the most parsimonious identification. It is not a Giant Petrel for a number of reasons: most obvious reason being that it has a dark not pale bill. |
