John Clare

I'm from Ireland but currently reside in the US. I received my BA in Natural Science from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, in 1999, and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, England, in 2004. My research interests center on biologically relevant toxins and pollutants, and their remediation. In 2001 I founded Caudata.org, a non-commercial and not-for-profit web site dedicated to conservation, study, captive care and breeding of Tailed Amphibians. Caudata.org's work was recently (2010) cited in Iran's successful proposal to list the critically endangered Luristan Newt, Neurergus kaiseri, in CITES Appendix I. Additionally, Caudata.org funds an annual research and conservation grant for scientists working with salamanders.
Special interests: Pollution, particularly of Water; Environmental Impact; Freshwater Ecology and Aquatic Environmental Chemistry; Amphibian Decline; Anura/Frogs; Caudata/Salamanders.
