Ron Wolf received his undergraduate training in geology (B.S., Geol. E., Colorado School of Mines) and worked as a geologist before turning to a career in journalism. He has frequently written about scientific, technical and environmental subjects for major newspapers including the Philadelphia Inquirer and the San Jose Mercury News. He has spent more than 50 years in close contact with nature, having hiked and camped all over California and the American West. His photos of nature and wildlife have been widely published in field guides, textbooks, magazines and newspapers. He lives in Palo Alto.
Special interests: Birds, wildflowers and fungi of Northern California; creatures of the Pacific intertidal zone; minerals; geology of California and the West.
