I live in Oakland, Calif. and am a geologist and editor at the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park. My photographs appear mostly in USGS publications but I have a few in textbooks including Mary Hill's U.C. Press book, Sierra Nevada Geology 2nd ed.. I took botany at Humboldt under Richard Hevly in 1965, had Ray Dasmonn as my adviser, took Natural Resources from John Hewston and Forestry from Brooks Sibley and Rudy Becking. I am the lead geologist of the Sierra Nevada Ecosystem Project (Connie Millar came to my 60th birthday party in 2008).
Special interests/expertise: I take most of my photographs of natural settings in the Sierra Nevada. I have been a geologist at USGS for over 30 years and work in their Publications group where many of my photographs are used in the literature. I was the lead geologist on the Sierra Nevada Ecosystem Project (SNEP).
