Andreas Nöllert worked about 20 years as editor of the magazines "Countryside Protection and Natureprotection in Thuringia" and "Nature Protection Report" at "State Office for Environmental Protection and Geology" in Jena/Weimar, Thuringia, Germany. He retired from work in 2011. Publications include a book on European amphibians: Nöllert, A. and Nöllert, C. (1992) Die Amphibien Europas. Franckh-Kosmos, Stuttgart. Also published as: Nöllert, A. and Nöllert, C. (2003) Guide des amphibiens d'Europe. Delachaux & Niestlé, France. He is editor of the book by Stojanov, A., Tzankov, N. and Naumov, B. (2011) Die Amphibien und Reptilien Bulgariens, Chimaira, Frankfurt/Main and together with K. Grossenbacher (Switzerland) and H. Laufer (Germany) author of the chapter about Pelobates fuscus in Handbuch der Amphibien und Reptilien Europas, 2012, Aula-Verlag Wiebelsheim. He is member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Herpetologie und Terrarienkunde (DGHT) and the Society for the Study of Amphibians and Reptiles (SSAR).
