  • location   Sacatone Springs, In-Ko-Pah Mountains (San Diego County, California, US)
  • family Rhamnaceae
  • notes   Twigs, leaves, and flowers of Ziziphus parryi. ZIziphus is a brethren genus to Ceanothus. If you look closely at the flowers, you'll see the skinny, clawed, petals are opposite the stamens, and their tips 'cup' the anthers, protecting them before they spring up at maturity. (Note the five wider petaloid-looking triangular parts of the corolla are the sepals!)
