  • notes   Slo.: greneča vlažnica - syn.: Gliophorus reae (Maire) Herink, Hygrocybe reae (Maire) J.E. Lange, Hygrophorus mucronellus Fr. - Habitat: mixed forest edge (Fagus sylvatica, Ostrya carpinifolia, Picea abies, Corylus avellana, Fraxinus ornus), moderately inclined mountain slope, south-southeast aspect; on grassland, former pasture now unmaintained or fertilized for a long time; calcareous, skeletal colluvial ground; dry, sunny, relatively warm place; partly protected from direct rain by tree canopies; average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 7-9 deg C, elevation 640 m (2.100 feet), alpine phytogeographical region. - Substratum: shallow, base rich and nutrients poor soil. - Comments: Hygrocybe mucronella is a small fungi jewel. It is rare and protected in Switzerland, Germany and other countries (but not in Slovenia). It is so small that, in spite of its vivid color, it is surely often overlooked. May be that is why it is considered rare? - Two pilei found, hut diameter 6 and 14 mm, stipe 48 and 20 mm long, stipe diameter 1.5 and 2.8 mm, longitudinally fibrous; smell indistinctive, eventually slightly unpleasant: stipe slightly viscid, hut somewhat less; SP white acc. lit.. - Spores smooth, unregularly shaped, some constricted. Dimensions: (7) 7,3 - 9 (9,7) × (3,8) 4,2 - 5,9 (6,6) µm; Q = (1,4) 1,5 - 1,8 (1,9); N = 34; Me = 8,2 × 5 µm; Qe = 1,7.
