  • notes   Slo.: navadni slakovec - syn.: Polygonum convolvulus L., Fagopyrum convolvulus (L.) Delarbre, Bilderdykia convolvulus (L.) Dumort., Tiniaria convolvulus (L.) Webb & Moq. - Habitat: extensively maintained grassland, flat terrain, calcareous, alluvia, brown soil; mostly in shade, elevation 535 m (1.750 feet); average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 7-9 deg C, alpine phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil.- Comment (pertains to Flickr album Fallopia convolvulus): Fallopia convolvulus is a widespread, sub-cosmopolitan and common annual climbing 'weed', which rarely climbs very high, but can grow more than 1 m long. It mostly winds among other plants of cultivated ground or in grassland, among plants of ruderal places or other tall herbs. The flowers are inconspicuous and small (only 3-5 mm long) of poorly defined color. It can be found in all continents of the Earth from Greenland to New Zeeland and south tip of the South America. It grows also in all European, North Africa and Near East countries. A successful but not really a showy plant. - Ref.: (1) D. Aeschimann, K. Lauber, D.M. Moser, J.P.
