  • location   Lower Trenta valley, between villages Soča and Trenta, right bank of river Soča, Skokar's ravine below 'Planina na skalah', East Julian Alps (Posočje, Slovenia)
  • notes   Slo.: nežni pojalnik - Habitat: in an alpine ravine, moderately inclined mountain slope, south aspect; open, dry, sunny place; colluvial, calcareous, rocky and sandy ground; average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 6-8 deg C, elevations 750 m (2.450 feet), Alpine phytogeographical region. - Substratum: sandy, nutrients poor soil among rocks. - Comments (pertain to pictures in Flicker album Orobanche gracilis - II): Orobanche species are always interesting to find. The shown plant is unusual in its color. Vast majority of these plants are red like blood (look at the German vernacular name). Its most distinguishing trait is intensive red inner side of the corolla. Yet, this one is more yellow than red, also inside. However, all other traits confirm the determination. Compare these pictures with https://www.flickr.com/photos/atrnkoczy/albums/72157644839666830 . Pictures were taken three times during a period of about 14 days, so one can follow how the inflorescence grows and also how its color changes during the anthese. This specimen is most probably a parasite on Genista radiata (blooming yellow half-bush in the background of Fig 45). - Ref.: (1) M.A. Fischer, W. Adler, K.
