  • notes   Slo.: spomladanska kokošnica - syn.: Draba verna L.. + about 30 other names. - Habitat: medium dry grassland, pasture; moderately inclined mountain slope, south aspect; open, sunny place; average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 8-10 deg C, elevations 550 m (1.800 feet), Alpine phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil. - Comments (pertain to pictures in Flicker album Erophila verna ssp. verna): Erophila verna ssp. verna is a widespread, small, inconspicuous (and therefore frequently overlooked), annual and very short lived plant. Its taxonomy is still not satisfactorily explained. Many consider it to belong to Draba genus. Also the description of its typical traits differs from author to author (particularly its hairiness, which is one of the main distinguishing trait among sub-species taxa. Transient forms are common and the descriptions of the plants from north Europe poorly fit those from south Europe. Therefore, many botanists refrain of splitting Erophila (Draba verna L). and rather talk about Erohpila (Draba) verna agg. (a group of different but similar plant forms). Following Jogan ed. (2001) (Ref.: 6) and FloVegSi database (Ref.: 7) this find is the first in the MBT 9647/3 and one of a very few in the Slovenian Alpine-phytogeographical region. - Ref.: (1) A.
