  • notes   Note the pair of Short-tailed Albatross in the center of the photo with their 3 year old juvenile behind them (note dark plumage and large pink bill on juvenile - Black-footed Albatross have a dark colored bill). Another observer stated that this was the 3 year old juvenile from the first fledgling of this pair in 2019, band# AA08. This species was near extinction by the 1940's and 50's when conservation and protection began. The population has slowly increased but remains vulnerable.
