notes Plumage: Adult. This taxon is treated here as a legitimate species following an excellent review of Iceland and Thayer’s Gulls by Weir et al. (2000) J. Zool. 252:517-530. A pdf of the article is found on Gull-Research.org. For unclear reasons, the American Ornithologists’ Society (formerly Union) in its 2017 annual supplement to the AOS checklist, made Thayer’s a subspecies of the Iceland Gull (Larus glaucoides). ebird follows the AOS.photo category: Animal - Bird
