Pads blue-gray, glaucous, with purplish tinge along pad margins and around areoles, with 1-3 long (10+/-cm), dark spines with white tip. This is one of the segregates from Opuntia macrocentra by Powell & Weedin (2004).keywords: CDR, Chihuahuan Desert, Big Bend
