location
Along Pacific Crest Trail, 1/2 mile south of Walker Pass Campground, Seqouia National Forest (Kern County, California, US)notes Detail of a small individual of this quite variably species. The habitus is somewhat compact; the lower leaves moderately wide; and the infloresence, stem, and leaf hairs are all non-glandular. About 4 miles to the northwest grew a similar plant...with its upper leaves comparatively narrowed. Compare that situation with the very different habitus of these plants growing on serpentine in San Benito County. Not far away from those (still in San Benito Co.) grew yet another form...more erect, open, and unbranched...with lower leaves narrowly lance-ovate and upper leaves lance-linear. photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
