notes This female has located the grub of a Horntail wasp inside a decaying maple stump & is drilling a hole down to it. Then she will deposit an egg on the grub (see photo Ichneumon wasp - 4323.jpg). The grub will provide food for the emerging wasp. Darwin was much troubled by the life cycle of this wasp.keywords: Wasp, Ichneumon
