plant community pine-oak-madrone woodland at 2390m (7840')notes on dry slope of steep narrow canyon cut in deeply eroded escarpment of volcanic tuff forming continental divide. Massive rock hodoos (the Monks) makes this area incredibly scenic in addition to richly diverse botanically. Very similar to S. bipinnatisecta, differing mostly in larger size and pubescence of flowers.keywords: SMOc, Valle de los Monjes
