plant community Oak woodland transition to tropical deciduious scrub at 5800' (1770m) elev.notes boulder field below volcanic rhyolite tuff cliffs at upper canyon rim. Glaucous blue-green bloom on foliage with short forward facing marginal teeth are distinctive. Old gravel switchback road has now been replaced with a new paved highway to Batopilas that greatly limits access to many former rich roadside collecting sites in the canyon.keywords: SMOc, Barranca Batopilas
