Great Namaland (Namibia)notes This sample comes from one of the world's great meteorite discoveries. Hundreds of pieces of the 'Gibeon' meteorite totalling several tons were found in Great Namaland in 1836. Many Gibeon specimens have been sold to museums and private collectors. This iron meteorite is classified structurally as a fine octahedrite and chemically as IVA.
