  • notes   dominant subshrub on limestone gravels of creosote scrub plain with Vachellia neovernicosa, Larrea and Yucca thompsoniana. Once nearly extirpated from overharvesting by Mexican candilleros for its high quality wax, the species is making a comeback in the region.
