notes Habit of a clump of the annual Plectritis congesta ssp. brachystemon, growing on a moist, rocky, north-facing slope. Note the plants here are relatively dwarfed in stature (compare with this image). Also, the leaves are opposite and quite consistently 4-ranked...with the lowest pairs having nearly round blades with winged petioles, while the upper pairs are obovate to oblong and sessile. The corollas have a fused tube below and a limb that appear from a distance to be 4 lipped...but close examination of the upper lip reveals a small notch, and thus the corollas are considered 5-lobed. photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
