north of Badger Flat on road to Papoose Flat (Inyo County, California, US)notes 'heads discoid, few; involucre 11–17.5 mm, cylindric; phyllaries graduated, oblong to ovate, firm, not keeled, tips irregularly toothed or notched, abruptly pointed; receptacle flat, finely pitted, epaleate. Flower: 4–7; corolla 9.5–11.5 mm, yellow; anther tip narrowly triangular; style tips linear, appendage > stigmatic portion. Fruit: 7–9 mm, glabrous; pappus ± = corolla.
