notes These key clearly to M. bolanderi in TJM2, although I didn't immediately recognize them as they were so much smaller than plants of that species I've seen elsewhere (e.g. in the western Sierra Nevada). Reading the description in TJM2, I was surprised and impressed by how variable in size individuals of this species can be: stems are given as ranging from 2-90 cm, while the calyces range from 7-27mm, and the corolla tubes from 10-30mm.
