This keyed well to Phacelia nemoralis ssp. nemoralis in Jepson eFlora...and even better in L. W. Heckard's 1960 monograph ''Taxonomic Studies in the Phacelia magellanica Polyploid Complex'' (see also Heckard's 1956 'The subspecies of Phacelia nemoralis Greene'). The nearest voucher location I could find online was this one, collected by the venerable Heckard himself! :-).

Some of the salient characters: Short-lived perennial with branched caudex giving rise to one to several stems. Stems ascending to erect, tall (0.5-2.0m), little to un- branched, bearing numerous cauline leaves. Leaves fairly large, lower pinnately-compound with 1 to 2 lateral pairs of leaflets and terminal leaflet ovate-lanceolate; the upper leaves mostly simple. Flowering branches mostly terminal, also short axial below. Calyx lobes linear-lanceolate, not overlapping in fruit. Flowers white, campanulate, stamens long-exserted.
