plant community Mesic forestnotes Endemic to Mt. Ha'upu on Kauai. This species was discovered in 1998 with a sole population of 7 plants. Apparently goats later consumed the population. While it is extinct in the wild, seeds were collected on the original discovery and K. haupuensis has now been propagated at the National Tropical Botanical Garden.
