INFORMATION PROVIDED WITH THE PHOTO
  • date of photo  Mar 30, 2013
  • location   Kelso Dunes (San Bernardino County, California, US)
  • family Boraginaceae
  • notes   Habit of the annual Phacelia ivesiana. I'd been hoping to see this for a long time...it was abundant here in the transition area from creosote-bush scrub to dune edge. A delightful plant. Very glandular. There were a number of tiny Pronotacantha annulata on these plants, an interesting 'stilt bug'. They are herbivores and are said to like glandular plants.
