  • notes   A. epigaeus is endemic to the island of Kauai and the genus is endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. They are usually epigeous in moss mats at tree bases. The ones I saw in a bog near Kilohana lookout were at the bases of stunted Ohia (Metrosideros polymorpha)trees. Elevation around 4030ft/1229m.
