Middleground-woodland and brush occupying former Redwood-Douglas fir site. Background open chaparral type on Monterey shale formation (locally known as the chalks). This formation is advancing down the slopes following erosion after each fire. Quad name: Santa Cruz. Quad number: 84. Reference to map: 20.
