Vrsnik valley, at the foot of Mt. Črni vrh, 1.544 m (5.064 feet), above the road to ‘Na skali’ village, East Julian Alps (Posočje, Slovenia)notes Slo.: deviška tratnica - Habitat: Open, unimproved grassland, pasture; moderately northeast oriented mountain slope, calcareous ground, mostly sunny, exposed to direct rain, average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 6-8 deg C, elevations 620 m (2.050 feet), alpine phytogeographical region. - Substratum: soil. - Comments: growing in a small group of about 10 pilei more or less in line; pileus slightly sticky, hydrophanous, pileus diameter 2.5 – 3.5 cm, stem up to 6 cm long, 4-6 mm in diameter, some compressed, fibrillose, slightly pinkish tint at the base; context white, brittle, yet less than in for example with H. pratensis or H. punicea; SP faint, whitish (?); taste indistinctive, smell almost indistinctive, very mild, on pharmacy(?). - Spore dimensions: 8.8 (SD = 0.6) x 5.1 (SD = 0.5) micr., Q = 1.75 (SD = 0.15), n = 30. Olympus CH20, Olympus NEA 100x/1,25, oil, magnification 1.000 x, in water. Ref.:(1) and (2) report spore dimensions from two-spored basidia to be somewhat greater, up to 12 x 6 microns, which probably explains my measurements, which fall outside reported data from literature valid for four-spored basidia. - Ref.: (1) D.
