BLM Ayers Rock Site. Coso Range. East of Coso Junction (Inyo County, California, US)notes The Native Americans who occupied this site created pictographs on the large rock. Area has been occupied for at least the last 600-800 years by Piute and Shoshone. Although there is no source of high-quality obsidian nearby, the ground at this site is dense with black glass flakes generated by tool-makers. They carried the obsidian here from elsewhere and used it to make arrowheads or spear tips.keywords: Anthropology, pictograph, petroglyph, Native American, Coso
