location
Panamint Valley / Death Valley National Park (Inyo County, California, US)notes The Panamint Dune Field is at the north end of Panamint Valley. This dune field formed as prevailing winds picked up sand from the dry bed of the lake that filled the valley thousands of years ago. The winds drop their load of sand when blunted by the peaks of the Cottonwood Mountains.keywords: geology, earth science, geomorphology, deposition
