In cloud forest in upland Rarotonga (Cook Islands)notes This beautiful large-leaved soft green liverwort is unique to the island of Rarotonga, Cook Islands, where it grows in cloud forest mostly above 1,500 feet elevation. Many of it relatives are in New Zealand. In current taxonomy, it is Gottschea cheesemanii (Stephani) Grolle & Zijlstra. Synonyms include Paraschistochila cheesemanii (Stephani) R.M.
