notes Habit shot of plant growing in rocky serpentine substrate. I didn't key this in the field, but going from the photos and using the Jepson Manual treatment for Hesperolinon, this seems to fit best with H. clevelandii. There are also a number of records of H. clevelandii from very nearby, e.g. UC571587, UC571588,RSA23389, and JEPS101018. The flowers were smaller than other Hesperolinon I've seen, which is in accord with the Jepson Manual treatment. However, the JM description states: ''sepals 1.5-2.5 mm; petals 0.5-1.5 mm, yellow; stamens 1.5-3 mm''... which doesn't seem to jibe with the flowers from this plant (i.e. the petals are longer than the sepals, and the stamens are shorter than the petals). Nevertheless, overall H. clevelandii seems like the best fit.photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
