location
West of pass between Del Puerto Canyon and San Antonio Valley (Santa Clara County, California, US)family
Asteraceae
synonyms Coreopsis stillmanii
notes Habit shot of what I believe is Coreopsis stillmanii...which has been collected from very near this site. I can't be certain, because I don't have a record of disk fruit and pappus. However, there are only three species of Coreopsis recorded from this general area in the databases accessed by CalFlora (see this link). Leaf shape excludes C. douglasii, which has thread-like leaf segments. And the gestalt here, with one erect peduncle per plant, is different than that of C. hamiltonii, which typically has many decumbent to ascending peduncles...and also has reflexed ligules in mature heads (none of the heads in the population where this was photographed had reflexed ligules).photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
