notes Eriastrum pluriflorum ssp. pluriflorum has corollas with a long tube and a short, almost non-existent, throat. The filaments alternate with the corolla lobes and are attached just below the sinuses of the lobes. In many polemones, the base of the throat (seen externally as the area where the cylindrical tube begins to discernably flare out) is precisely where the stamens are attached on the interior of the corolla. I believe one can barely make out a(n occasional) character of (both subspecies) of Eriastrum pluriflorum in the upper-rightmost flower here...namely, 4 stamens more or less equal, and the 5th short. Many thanks to David Gowen for clarifying morphology for me and assistance with ID. photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
