notes Detail of short bristly-hairy leaves and lower stem. Note the teeth of the leaves are somewhat large...nearly ''lobe-like'', which is a character of S. glandulosus ssp. arkii. The teeth also appear tipped with blunt glands...which have been hypothesized to mimic pierid butterfly eggs in various Streptanthus species and possibly deter gravid females from laying eggs of their herbivorous larvae on the plants (as it appears there are already too many eggs on the plant and the larvae might lack sufficient food due to competition).
