McConkie Ranch. Dry Fork Canyon. Near Vernal (Uintah County, Utah, US)notes Petroglyph carved into Navajo Sandstone by Native Americans of the Fremont Culture. Fremont peoples were thought to inhabit this area from about 1 to 1200 A.D. This figure appears also to have been painted (i.e. pictograph), but nearly all the paint has worn away. Note the unusual remaining color on the shield and forehead.keywords: archeology, Native American, Fremont, anthromorph, anthropomorph
