  • location   Mono Lake Tufa State Reserve. Near Lee Vining (Mono County, California, US)
  • notes   This small volcanic cone is the northernmost and youngest of a chain of 30 craters aligned along a fissure extending more than 10 miles. The fissure is probably one of the faults in the Sierra Nevada system. Panum is a nearly perfect rhyolitic plug-dome volcano, comprised of a cone of tuff, pumice and ash with a central plug of obsidian, formed during an eruption about 600 years ago.
