notes The photo shows the upper side of a leaf of Quercus robur, pedunculate oak. The spherical gall is on the underside of the leaf with the point of attachment showing here as a convex patch. The gall is caused by the sexual generation of the gall wasp and similar galls can be found on oak catkins.
