  • notes   V. b. pusillus, is the western-most of the four subspecies of Bell's Vireo, breeding only in Southern California and Northern Baja. This ssp. was listed as a state endangered species in 1980, and as a federally endangered species in 1986 due to loss of its riparian habitat and nest parasitism by Cowbirds. This particular specimen is a vagrant, well north of its normal range.
