  • notes   Collectively, these jagged pinnacles along the crest of the Ritter Range comprise an arete, a sharp ridge carved by glaciers. Aretes form when glaciers on oppose sides of a mountain range have cut away rock until only a steep wall separates the masses of ice. The highest peak is Clyde Minaret, elev. 12,281 ft.
