plant's place of origin
Sandy habitat, Purisima Hills north of Lompoc. (Santa Barbara County, California, US)family
Polemoniaceae
notes Identification pitfalls (Jepson key 1993): (1) Calyx and pedicel are 'not' densely glandular according to the key, but in many specimens that seems arguable, based on my observations (Lompoc area only). (2) Cobwebby hairs in leaf axils or stem bases may be very sparse or absent in most specimens, contrary to the first fork in genus key. Ugh, what pretty flowers!photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
