Asteraceae
notes Keyed to P. pinifolium in Wiggins 'Flora of Baja California'. However, Lenz puts P. pinifolium in synonymy with P. gracile in his 'Annotated Catalogue of Plants of the Cape Region'. Nevertheless, I found this plant very different in habit from the P. gracile I'm familiar with from the Mojave, which is typically much less dense, robust, and green...and is rather thin, glaucous, and pale green to purple throughout. The difference could be due to climatic conditions but I feel more comfortable calling this P. pinifolium at this point.camera Shot on a Canon Digital Rebel XT at f16, 1/200, ISO 100, with flash, using a 50mm Canon compact macro lens.
photo category: Plant - annual/perennial
