notes I originally keyed this in Wiggins ''Flora of Baja California'' to Loeselia ciliata. However, J. Mark Porter of Claremont Graduate School and RSABG corrected the ID to Loeselia involucrata. His comment: ''This is Loeselia involucrata G. Don. Loeselia involucrata (a blue-flowered species of western Mexico) has historically been confused with Loeselia ciliata L., a yellow-flowered species from Veracruz, Mexico.'' I'm presume this genus is the etymological precursor of Loeseliastrum, the lovely 'calico flower' genus of Alta California. camera Shot on a Canon Digital Rebel XT at f16, 1/200, ISO 100, with flash using a 50mm Canon compact macro lens.
