notes Detail of flowers. On the flower at upper left, and the two at lower right, the two (untwisted) 'trigger hairs' of the anthers are visible. They look like two tiny white fangs projecting from the tip of the fused stamen tube. Also, what seems to be a pedicel for the flower at lower left is actually the inferior ovary, and the striations make visible part of the half-twist between the base of the corolla tube and the point of attachment on the stem (not quite visible). A half-twisted inferior ovary, giving rise to an 'inverted' flower, occurs often in Campanulaceae.camera Shot with a Canon Digital Rebel XT at f16, 1/100, ISO 100 using a Canon 50mm Compact macro lens.
