notes This view also shows peridioles -- seedlike sacs that contain spores -- that have been dispersed from the 'nest.' The peridioles ('eggs') are the tiny reddish brown disks. I photographed this same cluster again seven weeks earlier, after the sporocarps matured and opened to release their peridioles.
