notes Liver lobules, H&T stain. Taken at 5x. This is IB 131L slide #45. The liver lobules of the rat are not as distinct as the lobules of the pig, and no connective tissue is visible between lobules. However, lobules can be distinguished by examining central veins and portal triads. As in the pig, the central veins lie in the center of the lobules. The radiating hepatic cords (chains of pink hepatocytes) can also be seen in this image. The spaces between hepatic cords are the liver sinusoids; capillary beds in which the gastrointestinal blood from the hepatic portal system is processed.camera Nikon D70s, original resolution: 300dpi, 3008x2000pxls at 5x magnification
