notes Liver lobule near central vein, H&E stain. Taken at 100x. This is IB 131L slide #43. This section is taken from a pig (not human) liver, and focuses on the middle of a lobule near the central vein. The radiating hepatic cords (chains of hepatocytes) can also be seen in this image. The spaces between hepatic cords are the liver sinusoids; capillary beds in which the gastrointestinal blood from the hepatic portal system is processed. On the edges of the hepatocytes, the bile canaliculi can be observed as very small, hot pink lines/tubes. The bile canaliculi transport the bile from the hepatocytes (which produce it) to the bile ducts of the portal triad.camera Nikon D70s, original resolution: 300dpi, 3008x2000pxls at 100x magnification
