notes Spinal cord cross-section, Gridley's reticular stain. Taken at 5x. IB 131L slide #15. This section is oriented with the ventral/anterior surface at the top and the dorsal/posterior surface at the bottom. The grey matter (inner 'H') and white matter are distinct in this slide, with the grey matter staining a darker pink. In the grey matter, the anterior/ventral horns, posterior/dorsal horns, central commissure, central canal, and entering fibers of the dorsal root are visible. One can faintly see the cell bodies of the large multipolar motor neurons in the anterior horns (larger, lighter pink). Both dorsal roots, a dorsal root ganglion (left side), and the anterior median fissure are visible external to the white matter.camera Nikon D70, original resolution: 300dpi, 3008x2000pxls at 5x magnification
